A team of experts from «Odfjell ASA» was headed by the President Bernt Daniel Odfjell. The newly established partnership will be mutually beneficial for the both companies at an interstate scale. The Norwegian company is actually investing into Russian economy by placing an order. Each ship will cost the Customer over forty million dollars. Russia in its turn exports high quality ships to Norway. Our tankers are built using cutting-edge technologies and correspond to the world's standards.

The Norwegian Party attributes high importance to the event. It is confirmed by the arrival of the Norwegian Ambassador to Russia Mr. Oyvind Nordsletten to the contract signing ceremony. Commenting on the importance of this contract for the intergovernmental relationship between Norway and Russia, the Ambassador said: «This is a first major contract ever signed by a Norwegian shipping company and Russian partners. This mere fact can serve as a concrete support of the friendly relationship between our countries. Thus our co-operation keeps making progress. On behalf of our Government we welcome this contract».

Why would one of the largest Norwegian ship-owner companies prefer to place its order at «Sevmash»? Daniel Odfjell was asked this question repeatedly during the press conference. His answer was as follows: «I am very glad that the contract was made. We had worked on it two years to have it finally signed today. We build ships in many countries. Yet today Norway is not competitive enough, unfortunately. We are happy to co-operate with you first of all because we are neighbors, we are close to each other, and the current project will be of assistance in further co-operation between our Governments. We are glad to have signed this contract. We believe that «Sevmash» has all necessary experience and skills for constructing ships of this kind. We consider «Sevmash» a reliable partner and trust it».

So a good start was made. Now it needs to be supported by actual results and capability of keeping the word given.
